Moles are very common and can appear in all shapes and sizes. In many cases, they cause little or no problem, but for some people they can have a huge effect on self-confidence – especially if the mole is on the face, or other parts of the body where they are easily seen.
Here at Bellissima Exclusive in Leeds we understand how severe an affect a prominent mole can have on the self-esteem of even the most confident people. We offer safe, effective Mole Removal or Mole Reduction with Electrolysis, using cosmetic treatments based on the latest advanced techniques.
How do moles form in the first place?
Moles occur when a cluster of cells called melanocytes form in the skin. Moles usually appear during childhood or the young adult years. It’s hard to overstate just how common they are – we average between 10 and 30 moles by the time we reach adulthood. The moles themselves can vary in size and colour, may be raised or flat to the skin, and often develop hairs due to their vascular blood supply.
A healthy mole is symmetrical with well-defined borders, is usually one colour, but can be one shade darker or lighter, and typically has a diameter of less than ¼ inch.
If a mole changes size, shape, and colour and/or starts to itch or crust, then we would advise you to see your GP as soon as possible.
What mole removal and reduction treatments do Bellissima Exclusive offer?
A Thermolysis current is used with a small needle to reduce the mole. As the cells are 80% fluid, the current causes this to evaporate. Mole Removal with Electrolysis isn’t painful – most of the clients we see at our Yorkshire clinic say they experience a slight stinging heat sensation which is usually described as being very tolerable.
If there are any hairs in the moles we are reducing, these will also be treated by inserting the small needle in to the follicle and applying a low current to the root. Only one mole can be treated in a session, and may require top-up sessions after 6 to 8 weeks. These sessions are included in the cost for Mole Reduction
A consultation is required with a Bellissima therapist and must be carried out before any treatment can begin. You’ll need to fill in a medical questionnaire and we will then need to collect a form from your GP, which they must sign before any treatment can commence.
Can Bellissima treat the hairs at the centre of moles, rather than removing the mole itself?
It’s quite possible to solely treat the hairs in the mole(s). If this is the type of cosmetic treatment you want, we can insert a fine needle into the follicle within the mole and apply a low current to remove the hairs. It’s important to note that this may alter the size of the mole (reducing it), so if this is something that may be an issue we would not advise the treatment. Follow-up treatments may be necessary to complete the hair reduction process.
The same consultation procedure as for Mole Removal applies for the reduction of hairs, so an appointment must be made with a Bellissima therapist before your treatment, to complete the questionnaire and collect a form to be signed by your GP.
What results can I expect from Mole Reduction treatment at Bellissima?
The mole treated will shrink in size and will in most cases be flat to the surface of the skin. The pigment in the mole may fade but this cannot be guaranteed, so some hyper-pigmentation may be left on the skin.
One of the major advantages of this treatment is the fact that there will be no scars left from stitches; all that remains is a faint mark where the mole used to be!
What happens after the Mole Reduction treatment?
A scab will form which should be left to come away naturally, it may take several weeks for this to happen. It will then fade although an exact colour match cannot be guaranteed.

Results differ from person to person and the likely effectivity will be discussed with you during your initial consultation. Permanence of results is not guaranteed.
