Few types of skin blemish vary in size as considerably as Sebaceous Cysts – they can be as small as a pea or as large as an egg. They occur when an overgrowth of surface skin causes a blockage of sebum – a natural lubricant – to form.
The location of Sebaceous Cysts can vary as much as their size. Here in Leeds, we often see clients with Sebaceous Cysts on the face, chest, scalp and back. The appearance of the cyst can also be variable, depending on where on the body it occurs.
Sebaceous Cyst Treatment at Bellissima in Leeds – what should I expect?
A 15-minute appointment would be needed for a small cyst. If you have a larger cyst, or if more than one cyst needs to be removed, this may be extended to 30 minutes or longer.
When you come to us for Sebaceous Cyst Removal we’ll take every care to ensure you remain comfortable and relaxed throughout. Your therapist will insert a very fine needle to deliver a Thermolysis current. At this stage pus can often be extracted from the cyst.
Clients describe the treatment as uncomfortable, but nothing that they find intolerable.
After the treatment, the area may be red and swollen but this is quite normal and should subside within a period of two days or so. The full healing process may take up to two weeks.
Sebaceous Cysts are unfortunately quite persistent, so repeat treatments may be necessary. If so, these should be taken at intervals of 4 weeks.
