Cellulite is something that has started to bother me over the last few years and according to statistics the other 90% of women in the world are affected with the condition too. Below are facts on Cellulite and what you can do to reduce it!

Why do we get Cellulite?

Around 90% of women suffer from cellulite at some point during their lives.

It occurs when connective tissues have become weakened. Connective tissues are mostly made up of collagen fibres, when these become weak the fat cells beneath the skin pushes through the fibres which causes the skin to pucker.

This can happen to women of all shapes and sizes. You could be very lean, work out and eat well, but still have cellulite.

Why do women suffer with Cellulite more than men?

Women suffer from cellulite more because the structure of collagen fibres in women are in vertical rows whereas men’s collagen fibres form a criss-cross pattern, which means the fat cells are less likely to push through and cause the dimpling effect on the skin.

Women’s hormones also tend to play a big part in the appearance of cellulite.

What can we do to help reduce Cellulite?

Your diet can’t determine whether you will or will not get cellulite, but eating a well-balanced diet will help. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water will also help by keeping your connective tissue strong and supple.

Doing regular exercise cannot cure cellulite but it can help prevent or reduce its appearance. Firming and toning your muscles will tighten the skin, making cellulite less noticeable. Regular exercise will also increase blood circulation which will deliver needed nutrients to your connective tissues helping them stay stronger.

There are a lot of products and treatments on the market for cellulite but few are clinically proven. At Bellissima.Exclusive we only offer clinically proven treatments which includes Endermologie® Lipomassage combined with Carboxy Therapy. This is a body treatment used to reduce fat, cellulite, water retention and slackening of the skin. We recommend 4 weekly treatments in salon and 4 weekly treatments of homecare sessions.
