Although the technical term of Botulinum toxin Type A, many other brand names will spring to mind. We’re pleased to offer clients the many advantages these treatments offer when properly conducted.
Anti-wrinkle Injections at our Leeds Clinic
Botulinum Toxin Type A is an injectable treatment used in non-surgical medical aesthetics to temporarily relax specific muscles. Its effects can be remarkable. Botulinum Toxin Type A can smooth lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions – such as frown, forehead and laughter lines. With advanced training a skilled aesthetics practitioner can also use the Botulinum Toxin Type A to correct muscular balance and facial symmetry, or to achieve a “lifting” effect.
Anti-wrinkle Injections from an Advanced level Nurse Practitioner
Bellissima Exclusive can offer you all the benefits of these treatments, delivered to the very highest standards. At our Facial Aesthetics Clinic in Leeds, our nurse practitioner and independent nurse prescriber is qualified at an advanced level and is fully insured to provide an advanced range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, in addition to upper face treatments.
How do Anti-wrinkle Injections work?
Botulinum Toxin Type A acts by blocking the release of the chemical messenger acetylcholine, at the junction between the nerve ending and the muscle. This means that the chemical messenger is prevented from reaching the target muscle, and so the muscle does not contract. The muscle-relaxing effects of the injectables are first noticeable 2-3 days after treatment, although it can take up to 14 days before they become fully apparent. The treatment will remain effective for approximately 4 months. To maintain the desired effect, repeat treatments are required 2-3 times per year.
What can you expect after your treatment?
For example, let’s say you have had injectable treatment in the frown area. Following your treatment, you will not be able to pull a frown expression, no matter how cross you are feeling! During the period when the frown muscles are de-activated, the skin between the eyebrows is not being “pinched” by the muscles and is able to repair itself. It also breaks the habit of frowning. The result of the treatment is a smoothing of the lines. For some clients, the frown lines disappear completely. Others simply experience a softening of the lines, depending on the strength of the muscles treated and how deep the lines were prior to treatment.
Injectables can bebe used to treat:
- Crow’s feet / laughter lines,
- Forehead lines
- Bunny lines – so-called due to scrunching up the nose like a rabbit
- Lipstick lines – from pursing the lips
- Reducing a “gummy” smile (correcting the alignment of the upper lip)
- Muscular indentations in the chin
Certain injectable brands have also been found to be clinically effective in the prevention of migraines and tension headaches, and in the treatment of excessive sweating. You will be required to attend a consultation and fill out a medical questionnaire before we perform any treatment.
