It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See You Soon

The Start Of Maternity Leave

“A new baby is like the beginning of all things – wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities”

– Eda J LeShan

Even though I am certain or may already know (depending on when you are reading this) that being a Mum will not only be the greatest job of all but also one of life’s biggest privileges. I also want to prove to myself and to set an example for our Daughter that you can still have a career alongside having a family and I haven’t lived & breathed Bellissima for the majority of my adult life to give that up.

So I will be lapping up Maternity Leave with our little Baby Girl whilst all my lovely clients will be in the safe and very fitting hands of the Bellissima Therapists but I will be returning to work whenever that may be. I am sure you will still see me in Salon on Mat Leave having a catch-up with our amazing team as I can never stay away for too long. And I want to take this opportunity to thank all my wonderful clients for the advice, well wishes and a whole lot of laughs. I cannot wait to see you all on my return, it’s simply not a goodbye, it’s see you soon.

I cannot believe I have just about made it to Maternity Leave. You may be reading this and I may have already had our Baby Girl or I may be on the last stretch before my maternity leave starts. Either way, we can see the finish line or should I say…it’s just the beginning.

With the start of Maternity leave, it comes with bitter-sweet emotions. Myself & Rick are so excited to become new parents and embrace everything that parenthood throws at you. In the words of Mum (Sara for those who don’t mum). “ You’ll be fine, you have been co-parenting Imogen and Mitchell (my siblings) for the last 10 years”. But it also comes with sadness with the thought of almost ‘hitting pause’ on my career and the relationships I have built and treasure with all my amazing clients.

For those who know me, I am immensely career-driven and if you had told me 2 years ago you would be taking a 3,4,5 month break from your career it would have petrified me but then it dawned on me why can’t you have both- Mum did and has.

In our industry, we come across a whole world of inspiring women who I have the pleasure of treating, who have successful careers alongside beautiful families and when becoming a Mum, they were not solely defined by that.
